Looking For Ideas...
Brainstorming a few ideas for my game, I have three in total that I was thinking of developing. A futuristic city, slums, or sewers/underground. The reason for choosing these three kind of genres was for the simple fact that they interest me and all of them can be developed and implemented into a game with fun interactivity fairly fluently. My first task is to create an artbible for these three locations/genres of game that I was considering developing. This is what I came up with:
CITY
For the City idea, I am really inspired by games such as Mirrors Edge and Deus Ex. Games that have very minimalist architecture but present it in such a beautiful way; Mirrors Edge more than Deus Ex as that seems to be more grunge but I did this purposefully, to add contrast to what I could develop and do for a city. The interactivity for both games also compare quite a bit. Mirrors Edge features and bases itself almost entirely around movement and how you diverse the levels and world around you in a multitude of ways, with the very few times you can interacts with a button here and there. Did I forget doors?
For Deus Ex, there were objects you could physically move and throw, some needing to be stronger to interact with, doors you could hack, vents you could open and explore, ladders you could climb and I think this would be more suitable for my task at hand currently.

SEWERS
For the underground idea, I also drew inspiration from Mirrors Edge and Deus Ex as they feature underground sections. Mirrors Edge being the storm drain you go down in, with lots of platforming, reaching certain parts of the underground to escape. This was an idea I'm the least set on personally but could feature just as much interactivity and story as the rest.
SLUMS
Out of all of these ideas, this is the one I like the most currently as it kind of brings both the City and Sewers into the same aspect. Slums are dark and potentially dangerous places that usually derive from the outskirts of a large city, such as the Favela in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This way, I could intertwine levels if I felt like it. It could also features underground sections of a city too. I think this is the one I'm going to go with!
